strength in what remains behind

What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind

-William Wordsworth

This verse from the poem "Ode on Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood" by William Wordsworth was featured in Criminal Minds this week. It's always been one of my favorite verses from any poem, particularly the last 4 lines, because it's something I've always felt I need to keep in mind.

That's beautiful A.S. This inspires me to read more poetry. There's been a couple I want to purchase such as Walt Whitman and John Ruskin. I've edited out my book collection so I only have Emily Dickinson...

are you sure these are the last four lines? I read a little more after that seemed to remove some of the beauty to me.

I was just referring to the last four lines of what I quoted there. Those particular four lines have always stuck with me.

I'm interested, though, in hearing more about what your opinion - what you read after that section that didn't appeal to you so much.
