the life cycle

Birth and death are not two different states, but they are different aspects of the same state. There is as little reason to deplore the one as there is to be pleased over the other.

It's hard to wrap the head around this concept with my pragmatic upbringing. In western thought, one you 'exist', in the other you don't. But maybe like the ebb and flow of tides, it's just a different measurement of the same thing, water.

I know what you mean, Joanne. It's a weird concept. Last night I was thinking about how we're moving into Spring, but in the southern hemisphere, they're moving into Autumn - we're all on the same planet, but existing in different seasons. I started wondering if that could somehow be a way of understanding Gandhi's quote, but then I started thinking about Lost and time travel and then I just gave up. ;P
